Volunteering

VOLUNTEERS & PARTICIPANTS WANTED

North Muskham is a supportive, neighbourly community with many organisations working to enrich village life and help residents in times of need. You may be new to the village or simply unaware of these groups, so they are listed below for information.

All depend heavily on volunteers. Even a small amount of time makes a real difference. If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact the person listed for each organisation — they would be delighted to hear from you.

1. Village Hall – Muskham Rural Community Centre (MRCC)

Hosts a wide variety of groups and offers excellent facilities for events. The committee (currently 10 members, new volunteers welcome) needs support with bar work, maintenance, and events.

2. North Muskham Parish Council

Your closest tier of local government. Works with District and County Councils on issues affecting residents. Meets monthly (2nd Monday). Volunteers are needed for community projects including the annual litter pick, Christmas events, Remembrance Sunday, the Summer Fête, the Neighbourhood Plan, Emergency Plan, and local responders.

3. Luncheon Club

Provides a hot meal every Monday at the MRCC for local pensioners, offering valuable social connection.

4. Muskham Cougars

Football opportunities for children aged 6+ at the Village Playing Field, supported by qualified coaches.

5. Muskham Panto

One of the region’s best long-running amateur pantomimes (30+ years). Always open to new performers of any ability or age.

6. Muskham Annual Charity Show

A light-hearted annual show raising significant funds for cancer and local charities. No acting experience needed — just enthusiasm and a sense of humour.

7. Muskham Pinkies

A traditional group of local men performing historic folk plays through the winter.

8. Blooming North Muskham

Our first village entry into the Britain in Bloom scheme (2026). Various projects throughout the year.

9. North Muskham Nature Reserve

A volunteer working party supports maintenance of the reserves in partnership with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

10. History Group

Guest speakers on local and wider historical topics. Meets every third Monday at 7:30pm (MRCC).

13. Allotments

Allotments become available from time to time.

14. Table Tennis

Open session every Tuesday at the MRCC, 7:45pm–9:15pm. All abilities welcome.

15. Café / Hub (Proposed)

A community café/hub is under consideration and would require volunteers to help run it.
